Saddle Club
Saddle Club is one of Hobart Horseplay’s most popular programs. It is a weekly horsemanship/riding lesson for children of ages 5 and up.
Children will learn many skills including: catching, handling and grooming a horse, tacking up, basic hoof care, basic equine nutrition, tack care, basic horse care (such as how to clean a water trough, how to muck out a stable, and what to look for when a horse may be unwell), as well as riding skills in a fun and supportive environment. Children will also improve their work ethic and social skills with every session they attend.
Saddle Club (Saturdays)
Saddle club runs for 10 weeks each term. Students are split into groups by a combination of their age (this is approximate) and ability levels. Older and more experienced children are required to help their younger and less experienced peers after their lesson - gaining even more experience with horsemanship and instructing.
Groups range from Green (beginners) through to Silver (experienced) and are staggered throughout the day. If your child has riding experience and you are unsure which group they might be in, skills lists are available by clicking the colours below:
